Me! Described by wife and friends as a logical, emotionless robot, cried from joy because of a book. Towards the end whenĪll seems lost for Dalinar's army and Bridge Four comes to the rescue, and then Dalinar thankful for the bridgemen, but assuming they are dead sees them and it is described as "It was the most amazing, most glorious thing Dalinar had ever seen.", I somehow got chocked up with emotion and cried. The crescendo of the last few hundred pages is probably the most enthralling reading (I mostly read nonfiction) that I've ever experienced. For example during that one highstorm as it describes that black wall approaching with thousands of windspren in front I could see it I know it sounds hyperbolic, but damn man, just incredible. At some point I went from just reading words on a page, to somehow being there in the scenes and picturing it all so vividly. Something about the way this book is written causes me to actually feel like I'm there, especially the latter half of the book. Having not read a ton of fantasy I don't know if something like 'spren' are a truly original concept, but I found the whole idea of them and their myriad forms to be absolutely intriguing. I know Sanderson's prose is heavily debated, but something about his writing style just really clicks with me, and pulls me into this amazing world that he has created.

There is so much about the book that I just love. I've never been so obsessed with a book in my life. I read the remaining 1,100 (paperback) pages in less than a week. Maybe because it's been a few years since I've read fantasy but at first I was a little overwhelmed by all of the terms, places, and concepts (the hell is a spren) that were being thrown at me, but once I was hooked, I was hooked. It took me maybe 150 pages or so to actually get into the book however. Due to that thread I ended up purchasing The Way of Kings (WoK) and started reading it on July 22nd yesterday I finished it and immediately started Words of Radiance (hardcover of course.) I have read some fantasy over the years: the five ASOIF books, The Hobbit (tried Fellowship of the Ring but couldn't get past 70 pages or so), the first two books of the Kingkiller Chronicle, and if it counts, the Harry Potter series. Before that thread I had never heard of the author nor of any of his books. There was a thread on here a few weeks ago that was discussing opinions of Brandon Sanderson.
